Robert Costanza, Ecology economist
Doctor Honoris Causa of ENS de Lyon - May 31, 2011 Robert Costanza is American. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1950. In 1979, he obtained his PhD in systems ecology with a minor in economics at the University of Florida. He also holds a Master's degree in "architecture & urban and regional planning" from the same university. Robert Costanza is currently Director of the Institute for Sustainable Solutions at Portland State University where he teaches economics. From 2002 to 2010, he led the Gund Institute of Ecological Economics. He is internationally recognized for his interdisciplinary work, combining ecology and economy and his commitment to sustainable development.
