Statement on investigation into MBBS assessment procedures and a revision app

King's College London is aware of allegations relating to information supplied via a smartphone app then being replicated in an MBBS examination on 25 June affecting 420 students. The decision was subsequently taken that the exam had been irretrievably compromised and it was declared null and void. We are taking this matter extremely seriously and have launched an urgent investigation. This will report to the Head of the School of Medicine at King's College London with respect to the examination procedure, and to the Medical Director of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust with respect to any issues relating to the professional conduct of the individual concerned as he is employed by the Trust. A replacement exam has been arranged for 8 July. The College will reimburse students for any travel expenses they incur. We very much regret the distress and inconvenience caused to our students.
