After the successful assembly of the innovative 3D-printed ceiling-modules, the staircase of the STEP2 unit was installed as a single component. Photo: Digital Building Technologies - ETH Zürich Construction is underway, once again, at the research and innovation building NEST. The new unit goes by the name of STEP2. Over the past three years, project partners from various disciplines have developed innovations with high market potential, which will be implemented in a real-world construction project for the very first time. The goal of NEST, Empa's and Eawag's research and innovation building, is to accelerate the speed of innovation in the energy and construction sector. To achieve this, new modules - so called units - are implemented in NEST on a regular basis. Through these projects, research and industry partners have the opportunity to try out new things and to develop their innovations in a real-world environment.
