Thirteen subjects among the top 50 globally
Thirteen subjects taught at the University of Sydney are among the top 50 globally, the 2018 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) reveal. Transportation Science and Technology is the University's top ranked subject in the 2018 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), coming in at number six. Veterinary Sciences, Nursing and Education were also ranked highly, at 21, 25 and 29 respectively. The GRAS measures 54 subjects covering more than 4,000 universities around the world. Other high-performing subjects include clinical medicine (32), political sciences (34), public health (37), agricultural sciences (38), human biological sciences (49) and communication (50). Three engineering disciplines at the University rank in the top 50: civil (38), metallurgical (39) and telecommunication (46). The rankings cement the University among the highest echelons, conducting world-class research and offering innovative degrees across a wide range of disciplines, said Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Laurent Rivory.
