UC San Diego Committing Resources to Make Positive Changes to Campus Community
University is making significant changes based on recommendations - from Black Student Union and San Diego's African-American Community The University of California, San Diego, stunned recently by hate- and bias-related events, is committing its resources'legal, moral, ethical, communal and educational'to make positive, necessary changes on its campus. 'As we continue to meet with the UC San Diego Black Student Union and leaders with San Diego's African-American community, we are committed to working together to keep our students safe and to discuss and address the issues on our campus so that we can heal and rebuild,? said UC San Diego Chancellor Marye Anne Fox. 'We are making significant changes based on the BSU's recommendations,? noted Fox, ?and we are creating a campus climate in which students will know, each and every day, that this university respects them and their communities. We cannot prevent the kind of deplorable events that have happened, but we can ensure that our students feel supported and respected so that they can succeed.
