Website showcases new migration network. A new website showcases the aims and main activities of a recently established academic research network on migration between Europe and Asia. The Europe Asia Migration Network ( EAMiN ) - the first of its kind - has established a collaborative infrastructure between five migration centres in Europe and South East Asia to conduct research on important global and societal transformations resulting from migration between the two regions, and within Asia. The network's foundations were laid in March 2016, when leading European and Asian scholars researching issues of migration, mobility and transnationalism were invited to meet at the University of Sussex by Professor Paul Statham , Director of the Sussex Centre for Migration Research ( SCMR ). They discussed possible research fields on which to focus collaborative funding bids and future research initiatives: Migration flows, mobility, policies and demographic changes Marriage migration, partnerships, and mixed families International retirement migration, care, ageing and wellbeing The transformation of Asian cities through migration and mobility Diversity, culture and social interactions between people from the West and Asia Development potentials of migrations to less developed countries Mobile Western workers and lifestyle migrants in Asia Female domestic care workers in Asia and Europe Unexpected mobilities, e.g. Syrian refugees in Bangkok The group has already been active in seeking external funding.
