Internship "Algorithm - Visualization Development"

Our Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an internship. Our Competence Unit for Cooperative Digital Technologies is leading in applied research on the development of data-based IT solutions for various application scenarios, including the design of new and innovative solutions supporting communities in increasing their resilience and achieving their sustainable development goals (SDG). As a reliable partner of industry and public authorities, we work on digital tools for a sustainable and resilient society based on current research results and in collaboration with end users and our customers. The focus of our applications is on climate change impact assessment and the protection of society during crises and disasters.

Specifically, our Responsive Sensing and Analyticsteam is developing efficient and scalable algorithms to provide emergency services with the necessary safety-relevant information and analysis results based on sensor and IoT systems on unmanned robots or aircraft (drones) in the event of the release of biological, chemical or radiological hazardous substances (CBRN), for example in the event of disasters.

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

• Under the guidance of our interdisciplinary team, you will evaluate the capabilities of our in-house Multimodal Fusion Architecture for Sensor Applications (MuFASA) and develop new algorithms for niche applications.
• You support us in our international project and get exciting insights into our technological environment.

• You will gain practical experience with one of the leading research companies in Austria.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

• Ongoing master’s studies in the field of computer science, mathematics, physics or similar
• Programming knowledge in Python and scientific libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy); experience in machine learning is an asset.
• Experience with data visualization techniques and web development languages JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus.
• Ability to work in a team, flexibility and commitment
• Good verbal and written English skills, German skills would be a plus.

What to expect:

• Duration of the internship: minimum 3 months
• Start date: summer 2026 - However there is some flexibility concerning the start-date
• A remuneration of EUR 1.415,-- gross per month for 38.5 hours per week. In addition to our company benefits, we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.
