Since 2023, Inrap archaeologists have worked on several occasions in the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul in Nantes, as part of the project to restore the tomb of the Duke of Brittany François II and the Duchess Marguerite de Foix, and more generally as part of the cathedral's restoration program following the fire on July 18, 2020.

A first discovery of Paleolithic levels has been made by Inrap on avenue Eiffel in Tours Nord, ahead of a construction project by Bouygues immobilier, covering an area of 6,000 m². The discovery of bifaces associated with other artifacts in stratigraphy is of major importance for understanding early Paleolithic occupations in the region, and provides a nuanced insight into Neanderthal technical traditions on the banks of the Loire.

In Cap Corse, the first preventive excavation to be carried out in this part of the island revealed the presence of a pavement structure, currently dated to the 4th-5th c. AD. a.DC. The morphological characteristics of this construction and its position at the mouth of a river and the Tyrrhenian Sea suggest that it may have been a small port facility.

In response to a request from the French government, and following a diagnostic study carried out in 2017, which revealed numerous flint remains, Inrap and Chartres Métropole carried out an excavation at the Enclos site (1500 m²), in Mainvilliers, west of Chartres.

On the banks of the Rhône, at the foot of the Massif du Malpas, a team of Inrap archaeologists has excavated part of an ancient spa area, occupied between the 1st and 4th centuries AD.

As part of a housing development project in Fameck, Inrap is excavating for the first time a Middle Paleolithic (and Pleistocene) occupation in Moselle, 40 years after the Chavelot dig in the Vosges. The dig provides new elements for assessing the place of this region in European settlements. An occasional Neanderthal hunting lodge? The plot of land lies within the plateau formations separating the Moselle and its tributary, the Fensch.

A protohistoric burial site at Marliens (Côte-d’Or)
Inrap archaeologists conducted an excavation at Marliens, some twenty kilometers east of Dijon, prior to the extension of a gravel pit (Eqiom) in the Ouche valley, a tributary of the Saône. The three excavated areas, representing a total surface area of 60,000 m², yielded a series of occupations ranging from the Neolithic to the Early Iron Age.

Since the beginning of 2022, a study of the archaeology of the building led by the Inrap is engaged on the bell tower and the western facade of the cathedral of Nîmes. It is an exceptional opportunity to deepen our knowledge of this emblematic building of the city of Nîmes, by studying closely its elevations.

In Colmar, the Inrap is excavating the cathedral square and uncovering the old cemetery of the Saint-Martin collegiate church. The initial research provided first-rate information on the population of Colmar in the medieval period. In the heart of the city, the redevelopment project of the Cathedral Square, carried by the City of Colmar, has motivated the prescription of a preventive archaeological excavation by the State (Drac Grand-Est).
