Excavation of a Yutz bastion in Thionville

South of the town of Thionville, on the right bank of the Moselle, Inrap has excavated an area of 6250 m² and uncovered one of the three bastions of the "Couronné de Yutz", built between 1746 and 1752 by Louis de Cormontaigne The right-of-way was affected by the construction in the 1960s of large high-rise buildings, known as the "Cormontaigne Towers", and their destruction in the 1990s.
