Two SV professors among the 2012 Leenards Foundation Awardees

Our warm congratulations to Nicola Harris and to Félix Naef who are among the Awardees of the 2012 Leenaards Foundation scientific Prize!. By offering scientific awards each year since 1999, the Leenaards Foundation engages in promoting biomedical excellence in the Lemanic aea. The foundation privileges a long-term vision by supporting young researchers working on ambitious projects who tend to collaborate with several institutions in the Vaud and Geneva region. In 2012, the jury selected three scientific projects investigating on the metabolism, the gut's immune system and the brain microcircuitry: Nicola Harris will lead a project entitled "Modulation of fibroblasts by intestinal microbes - implications for chronic inflammatory diseases" in collaboration with his UNIL colleague, Sanjiv Luther (UNIL), Two UNIL professors, David Gatfield et Frédéric Gacho, together with Felix Naef (EPFL School of Life Sciences) will head a project on "Integrating transcriptional and post- transcriptional regulation to decipher daily rhythms in gene expression: implications for liver physiology and metabolism", and Nicolas Toni (UNIL) et le Denis Jabaudon (UNIGE) will investigate on "How to handle the genes to study and repare the brain microcircuitry".
