Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) - Affiliated Professor 2022-24 - (June 2022) June 19 to July 17, 2023 (stay planned in 2024) - Inviting Researcher: Hervé Piégay Prof. Vikrant Jain is a river scientist with basic training in geosciences. His research interests lie in the field of river science, geomorphic applications in stream management and river's future in response to climate change and anthropogenic disturbances. Prof. Jain has developed process-based understanding of different spatial and temporal aspects of the Himalayan rivers, India; dryland rivers of western India and coastal rivers of Australia and Canada. He received prestigious national awards namely Fellow, National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), 2022 and National Geoscience Award-2018 for his research contributions in River Science. This application to host an Indian guest researcher is part of the IRP CNRS project between India and France entitled "Effects of River-Aquifer exchanges on riverine ecosystem resilience to global change: Comparative approach of the Ganga and Rhône River basin networks" which started on January 1 of this year. This IRP is leaded by H. Piégay at ENS-EVS.
