Research in Neuroscience in the Lemanic area draws upon the combined resources, energies and experience of two large universities (the University of Geneva and the University of Lausanne), one of world’s most respected polytechnical schools (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne) and two cutting edge university hospitals (HUG and CHUV).
The Lemanic Neuroscience Doctoral School (LNDS) organizes student training both in theoretical and experimental aspects of neuroscience. Research projects take place at affiliated laboratories in Geneva and Lausanne. Students receive their training through comprehensive coursework within the LN Program and by attending seminars, journal clubs and workshops. They are also encouraged, and often sponsored, to present their research at national and international neuroscience conferences. Facilitating interaction between students and senior researchers helps the students build a network for future collaboration and employment. Our graduates have successful careers in a variety of areas including academia, teaching, research foundations, industry and scientific editing.

If you are interested at enrolling in the LN Doctoral School, please follow these steps:

  1. Find a laboratory in the Lemanic area that offers you a research project and can guarantee your salary during the duration of your PhD (3-4 years).
  2. Define a thesis project with your thesis director.
  3. Register as a doctoral student at the university where your project will take place.
  4. The Scientific Committee of the Doctoral School will review your application and let you know if you have been accepted into the program.
