Doctorate in Medicine and in Life Sciences (MD-PhD)

The Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne offers a doctorate in medicine and in life sciences for medical graduates aiming for an academic career. The doctoral program is managed by the "commission paritaire MD-PhD" and offers a high quality education in sciences.

An experimental work constitutes the major part of the doctoral education. Theoretical knowledge is obtained in graduate and postgraduate courses. The candidates are accepted preferably when they are in their 3rd year and start their theoretical education during their "année à option" (5th year). The candidates selected in their 4th or 5th year start their theoretical education and their thesis work after the obtention of their diploma in medicine.
